Timber is a natural raw material that has many uses in construction and in the home.
Timber is a natural material that has many advantages. Adaptability, energy performance, durability, etc.
Effective and versatile, timber adapts to all situations. Structures, fittings or even insulation.
In the construction sector, timber products can be found in a wide variety of forms depending on the required uses and performances:
- MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is a medium density fibre panel manufactured from wood fibre and a synthetic binder.
- OSB panels (Oriented Strand Board), is composed of stands of pine wood glued together to compose a mattress of three crossed layers. This specific structure explains the excellent mechanical strength of this type of panel
- Glue-laminated timber combines flat and parallel gluing of several strips of solid timber (3.5 – 4.5 cm thick). This makes glue-laminate a material that has constant and guaranteed characteristics and very high mechanical strength.
- Plywood is composed of several sheets of flat ply, 0.8 to 4 mm thick, glued to each other while crossing the grain direction.
- Polymer composite timber: a technological material made from recycled timber particles. The latter are mixed with polymer resins to give them strength and flexibility. Composite timber is used to manufacture finished products such as: cladding, decking, fencing, gates, doors, etc.
- Exotic timber Teak, Ipe, Iroko, etc. are all very hard woods that resist well to the elements.
Drilling this type of timber in good conditions requires selecting a suitable drill bit. Use our product selection guide to find the right one.
